How Does Halotherapy Help? - Psoriasis, Eczema, and Acne
Many of us struggle with skin issues. While not everyone deals with eczema and psoriasis, most of us are well acquainted with waking up to find an acne breakout at the worst possible time. For those of us who do suffer from the painful and seemingly never ending symptoms of psoriasis and eczema it can be a costly problem to try to solve, with little results to show for. Halotherapy, or Salt Therapy, is a cost effect and easy way to provide our clients with relief from these burdens.
Before we dive into how Salt Therapy can help with these conditions, let’s define what each condition is. Psoriasis is a common skin condition that changes the life cycle of skin cells. Psoriasis causes cells to build up rapidly on the surface of the skin. The extra skin cells form thick, silvery scales and itchy, dry, red patches that can be painful. Eczema, is a group of diseases that result in inflammation of the skin. The diseases that cause Eczema are characterized by itchiness, red skin, and a dry rash. Acne is a skin diseases that occurs when hair follicles are clogged with dead skin cells and oils from the skin. This causes the clogged follicles to swell and form into small inflamed bumps.
Dry Salt Therapy has been proven to have a multidimensional positive affect on various forms of dermatitis, including acute symptoms of acne, psoriasis, and eczema. Depositing on open skin areas, dry salt particles increase the activity of skin ion channels, stimulating cell growth and regeneration. Dry Salt particles balance skin pH and auto flora (skin microbes), as well as reducing harmful bacteria and inflammation.
Skin and respiratory disease are often coexistent, and dermatitis is associated with other issues of the immune system. The effects of inhaled salt particles on the respiratory tract decrease bacteria and improve bronchial drainage, thus decreasing the overall toxicity and reducing the likelihood of future outbreaks. The sterile environment inside the salt room relaxes and modulates the nervous system, freeing the body from the stresses of external stimuli and initiating healing and rebalancing.
Does it really work? After a series of treatments, study subjects showed decreased itching, decreased or resolved scaling of the skin, and the drying and healing of small fissures, scratches and breakouts. Multiple studies in Russia have shown salt therapy to be effective in the relief of dermatitis symptoms, and of potential long-term benefit as part of a total body approach to healing.
